V2, still on RPG maker
I was remaking this game with a new game engine so I could be more flexible with the battle system and maybe add some other features. I finished most of the menus, and when I began writing the battle system, I realised some problems with how it's been set it up and couldn't achieve that flexibility that I wanted, so I'll need to start from scratch. It's my first time using another game engine besides RPG maker so I shouldn't expect to be perfect on my first try.
As I was developing, I had a few ideas which I thought I could test out and easily implement in the existing version, so I thought I'd update it.
Battle
New Hyper mechanic - TP is now gained per action (attack, receive damage). Once TP is full, gain hyper, a buff which has another unique effect per character, and enables use of ultimate skill. Buff lasts 3 turns, TP will decay by 25 every turn until buff expires (i.e remaining TP is 25) or ultimate is used (remove hyper buff and set TP to 0)
Stun - No changes but its never explained since there's no tutorial so I'll explain here. Attacking weak or dealing crit (non-resist only) will have 40% chance to stun, making enemy unable to act for that turn only (if they have already acted, stun does nothing). I may change this mechanic in the future version (one idea is applying elemental effects instead of only stun) but I like this mechanic and I think it works well already, so will have to see.
Actor
Passive - Removing the leveling passive concept. There are now only three types of passives, Unique (same as previous), Hyper (the applied buff when actor reaches max TP), and class, increase TP gain per action based on class, e.g attacker -> increase TP gain from attacks. There are only three classes (allrounder, attacker, supporter), there should be more however I couldn't spread them out evenly without changing actor skills, and I am not redesigning skills in this version as they will be redesigned in a new version, so if there is feedback on too many attackers that is the reason.
Stages
All lives requirements have been removed. Lives are now used only to quick clear the material stages (e.g skills, gear etc).
Event - New stage Hard mode, its just the story enemies on a higher level, basically to farm event tokens
Side - New chapter 'Little goes long' (Recommended Lv 80-85)
Endless replaced with Onsalught - 4 wave enemies, basically a stage used to grind exp books
Labyrinth - No changes, but I want to rework this mode. Just need to come up with some ideas
Equipment
No changes but I do have an idea on how to rework this. Its a major change which I can't just plug in to this version so have to leave it
Miscellaneous -
Removed Daily login rewards - Trying to reduce the number of items received to prolong game time, also China may be banning it so just trying out if its feasible.
Removed Cafe - I have an idea to rework this but since its a major change, not bothered implementing. Also, as above, reducing number of items received.
Adjusted various rates/rewards, shop prices to accommodate for above changes
What's next
Will still try to rework this game in a new engine (may also try out a few more), but I don't know how polished these versions would be compared to this one because I don't have any assets to use for them. RPG maker is nice because there are a bunch of images and audio built in, plus I have purchased a few already. Honestly I don't want to purchase any more graphics for this prototype unless I'm committed to this. The dream is to turn this into a proper mobile gacha (with honest rates haha), but making a live service game is much more serious than just making prototypes. As well, I need to make sure if this idea is even viable. So if people can give feedback on what works and what can be improved (and how), I'll see if its possible to commit to it, otherwise this is probably the best we can do.
